Revolutionizing GT Programs with Automation

Before Project GT: A Tedious Process

Midland ISD’s GT Program once relied on manual data entry and time-consuming score uploads. Staff had to juggle multiple electronic systems to collect, store, and merge data, requiring significant effort to make this information usable. It was clear a more efficient solution was needed.

The Power of Automation

With Project GT, Midland ISD transitioned from manually entering each student’s score to using bulk uploads – drastically reducing time spent on data entry. Once a student is categorized as “qualifies for GT service” or “does not qualify for GT service”, Project GT automatically generates a parent notification letter in the family’s home language and securely files it under the student’s profile. The creation of the digital letter allows the district to send them out electronically, saving paper, postage, and manpower. Additionally, Project GT supports appropriate stakeholder access to student information, enabling educators to provide timely and targeted support.

Efficient Screening for a Large District

Midland ISD doesn’t just screen enrolled students – they offer GT screening to all students zoned to their district. This makes an efficient, streamlined process essential.

Key points from their process:

  • One open window for screening registration – Any student who lives in the district zone can register, whether they attend Midland ISD schools or not.
  • Project GT digitizes referrals – The entire process is automated, ensuring accuracy and preventing students from slipping through the cracks.
  • A universal screener is conducted every year for all MISD students in specific grades
  • Students can be nominated for GT screening by either their school or their parents

A Game-Changer for Midland ISD

By automating key processes, Project GT lightens the administrative workload, allowing educators to focus on what truly matters- supporting students. Summing up the impact, Midland ISD’s Judy Bridges joked that Project GT, “saved our Christmas Holidays”.

Beyond just saving time, Project GT allows for quick progress monitoring helping to ensure that no student is overlooked and that each receives the appropriate support to thrive. For districts looking to streamline their GT program, Midland ISD’s success is a testament to the power of automation.
